Economics & Statistics

Easier LearningBetter Teaching

Building on easy to deliver, web-based technology to create better visual learning and teaching experiences. Easy to use, no coding or math required. Graphical representations of models brought to an entirely new level. Just launch and explore.

Interactive

Change the values of parameters, highlighted variables, switch the focus, toggle visibilities, and quite a bit more. Explore. Playfully.

Dynamic

Graphs immediately update to reflect the changes you made. Watch live. A bit like in a film, but with you as director.

Precise

Visualisations are driven by simulated data. The underlying math reflects common choices of explicit functional forms to describe the respective models.

Interlinked

Plots on different coordinate systems are linked so you can observe changes in values across selected sections or even the entire model. Available screen estate is the only limit.

How to Use a Visualisation

Every visualisation offers a dedicated set of icons that enable you to interact with it. This is what the icons stand for.
Refresh

Reload the visualisation with its initial visibilities, parameter values, and highlighted variable values.

Select a View

Choose which selection of coordinate systems you want to display. The chosen view will occupy the entire available screen estate.

Select a Parameter or Variable

Select the parameter or highlighted variable for which you want to increase or decrease the value.

Visibilities

Toggle the visibility of selected graphical elements.

Display Details

Display a brief description of the visualisation as well as the equations driving the graphs.

Increase Value

Incrementally increase the value of the selected parameter or highlighted variable value.

Decrease Value

Incrementally decrease the value of the selected parameter or highlighted variable value.

Change Value

Increase or decrease the value of the selected parameter or highlighted variable value.

Move Up

Shift a graph or a highlighted variable value upwards. This is used when the focus is more on the qualitative than on the quantitative nature of changes.

Move Down

Shift a graph or a highlighted variable value downwards. This is used when the focus is more on the qualitative than on the quantitative nature of changes.

Move Left

Shift a graph or a highlighted variable value to the left. This is used when the focus is more on the qualitative than on the quantitative nature of changes.

Move Right

Shift a graph or a highlighted variable value to the right. This is used when the focus is more on the qualitative than on the quantitative nature of changes.

Try it out

Select an example below and play around by clicking on the icons provided in the blue bar.

For Students & Lecturers

Easier learning. Better teaching.

Access Routes

Two Ways to Benefit

Depending on your objective, both approaches may be valuable to students as well as lecturers.

Visualisations

Basic access to the «nacked» visualisations.

If you are looking for something specific and want index style search, then this is the route for you.

1
Choose Your Topic

Filter content by tags, or use the table of content to drill down to the topic you have in mind. Then choose from alternative functional forms driving the model you want to explore.

2
Select Your Visualisation

Choose your set of parameter values, highlighted variable values, and toggled visibilities of graphical elements with which you want the visualisation to initialise.

3
Launch and Explore

Launch your selected visualisation, manipulate values and visibilities, and observe the effects of your changes in real time.

Presentations

Sequentially structured content for straight-forward access.

If you are looking for a more didactically designed flow of information, then this is the route for you.

1
Choose Your Presentation

Presentations are designed to lead you through the logic of a specific topic. Seamlessly embedded visualisations are complemented with brief explanatory text.

2
Follow Through, Step By Step

Launch your selected presentation in fullscreen mode, navigate through the slides using your keyboard or the icons provided, and interact with the visualisations to deepen your understanding of the topic at hand.
